Take a ride into history on an authentic Viking Ship!

Vikings Plunder Mille Lacs - Mille Lacs Messenger Sept 15, 2010. Ross Wilson took five years to build solid white oak 35 foot Viking Ship, Model 1060 A.D. Everything was hand made. No stain or varnish was used on it, only pine tar and linseed oil. 270 sq.ft. canvas sail sewn by Brenda Oliver. Maiden voyage was Sept 8, 2010. Had to row back 3/4 mile. Out on lake again on the 10th and found 4 foot waves with gusts up to 25 mph. www.millelacsmessenger.com

Saturday, September 18, 2010 was media day at Garrison Creek Marina as Lakeland TV came out to interview Ross & film Lucky Eagle. The day was perfect--a bright sun and a slight wind out of the west that just filled the sails. Lucky Eagle strutted her stuff for the camera.

Many boat builders have built replica Viking Ships. However, most have not been able to resist the temptation to use more modern techniques and end up changing their design from the originals. They may look like a Viking Ship on the outside, but they are not built like one. The Lucky Eagle has stayed true to the old designs through painstaking research and is remarkably authentic.
